Distinctivly shaped hard biscuits, said to date from 1826, known to have been advertised since 1899 and associated with a number of different bakeries in Devon including Bowden's and Harris', both of Barnstaple, and now made by Chanters Bakery of 2 Barnstaple Street in South Molton.
