 1lb flour to 5 eggs, 8oz sugar, rose or orange flower water, beaten and baked 1 hr (Eaton 1822).  Original Receipt in 'The Cook and Housekeeper's Dictionary' by Mary Eaton (Eaton 1822);BISCUIT CAKE. One pound of flour, five eggs well beaten and strained, eight ounces of sugar, a little rose or orange flower water. Beat the whole thoroughly, and bake it one hour.  |
