Hampshire Drops

Cakes

Small round cakes of soda-raised sweetened white wheat flour with egg, split and the halves adhered with jam.

Hampshire Drops
4 oz. flour
1 egg
4 oz. butter
A little jam
4 oz. castor sugar
4 oz. cornflour
A little baking powder

Beat butter and sugar until creamy, add egg and beat well, then mix in the other in-gredients except jam. Put in teaspoonfuls on a greased tin. Put two together, when all are baked, with a little jam in the middle. They take 10 minutes to bake in a moderate oven.
