Vimto

Drinks

A proprietary fruit drink made from grapes, raspberries and blackcurrants, available as a diluting cordial or fizzy preparation. Consumed cold or hot.

Vimto, under the name 'Vim Tonic', was created as a healthful 'temperance' drink in 1908 by John Noel Nichols of Manchester. The original factory site, in Granby Row, now has a huge 'Monument to Vimto', created in 1992 by the sculptor Kerry Morrison and representing the ingredients of the drink.
